Oriental medicine can assist women through all phases of pregnancy. For healthy women, acupuncture can be used to maintain harmony and balance. Watsu is massage in water. The practioner and client are in warm (98-99 degrees) water, and while you relax in her arms, she gently guides you through the water, using the force of the water to stretch the muscles, joints and ligaments. Sheri is very involved with helping new doulas find their way through the business side of the doula world. She can help the doula with marketing, advertising, setting up your personal business. Nancy is a certified Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor (HCHI), a DONA (Doula of North America) Certified Doula, and a certified Hypnobabies Hypno-doula. Through UCSD Medical Center, She volunteers services as a "Hearts and Hands Doula". She also provides ongoing classes teaching the Hypnobabies 5-week/ 15hour complete childbirth education course in Coronado, CA. Nancy is also teaching Newborn Classes for mothers-to-be and mothers with newborns teaching: The Happiest Baby on the Block and the Dunstan Language Program. Childbirth education can make a significant difference to how your labor and delivery process goes, as well as making your transition to parenthood a smoother one. Private classes are available by some of our educators. Classes can be held in your home, or at one of our locations. Contact the educator for more information and fees. "Breastfeeding Education": Knowing the basics of breastfeeding, the cues your baby gives, and the comfort that can be achieved with knowledge, all provide a better start to breastfeeding. There are Certified Lactation Educators who are affliated with BB and they can be contacted to come to your home for in-home classes and support. For any help beyond our scope of education, we refer out to Lactation Consultants in the community. BB is a member of the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition. "Baby Care": How Do you care for a new baby? Classes in Baby Care Basics can help you to know the technques for taking care of a baby! Classes are available in the community, but we have doulas who can provide private classes as well. For community classes, contact the hospital that you will be delivering at, or you can also ask your postpartum doula for referrals.
